Durability of TM v2 gearbox shells?

Jan 31, 2007 7:49am
I was wondering how the durability was on V2 TM gearbox shells. I'm planning on putting a PDI 140% or 150% spring in along with replacing most of the stock parts. Would I need to get a new reinforced gearbox shell for this?

No, 1, v2's are very secure and durable, 2 Tokyo Marui Gearboxes are built better than any standard out there. Everything in there is perfect, but if you were going to work on the insides i would worry about piston and piston head. The ones i had were frankly, quite ugly! THey worked fine but the stock ones just couldn't make the grade. (my grade that is) Don't forget metal bushings.

Wasn't there a post somewhere that stated if you don't really know what you are talking about, don't give that advice. I think one of the admin's wrote it somewhere....

If you don't like stock TM piston heads, (or even pistons) then you're a fool!

Hey all, thanks for the correct information on that stuff. The upgrades are for a stock TM M4 RIS. So now I know what to do as far as springs and piston/piston head go, but no one else except juic3box has said anything about my actual question about the durability of TM v2 gearbox shells. Was he correct about that?

From my experiace systema springs have been good to me, ICS either sent me the wrong spring or they had the FPS labled wrong, guarder is good, prometheus is good, but loses quite a bit of FPS when it breaks in.

if u dont run over a m120 spring it should last a long time. Snoopy built me a TM m4 with metal bushings and a m120 everything else was stock. I must have fired atleast 100,000 rnds thorugh it untill the gear box devfolped a VERY small minor crack.

I don't really like the way picoy's post was worded because it implies that the Admins are the almighty gods of technical knowledge that are not to be argued with.

I am not talking about you or myself.

im not saying you were. My dad is an enginer, when i have most issues i go to him. Why? cause he reverse enginers shi t that saves lives. just remeber text book knowledge is one thing, real worl technical stuff is totally another. But when hes wrong about things its cause of the pure experince that the other guys have,

space is quite limited in an aeg. So how would you propose to add a controller for a brushless motor?

Stock TM pistons/piston heads.

Recently, brush less motor controllers have gotten quite small.

I was too lazy to build my own, so I purchased a premade one. So I'm not sure of what kind of mosfet it uses.

I'm acutaly surprized on thoughts about TM parts. Would it be too noob to say, that when my CA piston dies, that I swap it out for a TM?
