I disagree with all of the history "facts" at the beginning. You cannot "sum up" world history in 4 words and with a,b,c,d by any means. Off the top of my head I can critically agrue most of these "facts." The problem is that the uneductated read or hear "facts" like this and assume its true with no "prove it" mentality.

Bill, I see your frustration and certainly acknowledge unjust power given to higher officials.

I agree with the sentiment that started this post. I strongly support John Glenn... (fun fact: he was the president of my elementary school's PTA at one point)... While I agree with the fact that yes, we've advanced our technology and battle strategy, that does not change the fact that our President had much more reason to start this war than many of the past wars this country has fought (not to say that there aren't some wars that have had more call)... Ferguson, I fail to see why you want to bring our troops home. You want to protect yourself. I want the ability to protect myself, but I also don't want to need to.
I used to work in a bank... USED TO... apparently they don't like it when you take home samples.

Another similarity with Vietnam is the style of fighting, us going into a country where soldiers are already dug in(in Afgan. just in the mountains they know so well). It's impossible to elimnate every terrorist when they are in the spot, not to mention hiding out in schools and what not. If we stay in Iraq, the fighting between the two sects will only get worse and Iran will sit there, benefiting from the two killing each other and gain control over the whole middle east(which they almost, or do, have).

I full heartedly agree with every thing that has been said in favor of the orriginal post because I know that even though this war has caused a lot of debete it its truly the best choice. If we had chose not to fight back after they attacked us on OUR land that we won through the blood of thousands of fathers mothers brothers and sisters then the world would have chosen to ignore the fact that even though we havent started most of the wars we've been in since we became a country we still stood our ground in them. Instead they would have seen us as a weak link that has no right to be here and started attacking us until we lost our ground.

ignorance runs rampant! You fools! I say that we're in Iraq and we have no logical choice but to stay, and the only actual argument I get against that is "We're fighting the wrong people"... one of you even went as far as to state "We've destroyed they're entire country... their government, their jobs, everything... you expect them not to be pissed off?" you realize you're arguing for me? Heck yes I expect them to be pissed off. I expect them to hate the US... so what do we do about it? leave? or do we stay and try to FIX IT?! we removed their political leadership. so we put in a new government. a corrupt, POS, falling apart government, but we're working on it (besides... why should we give them one better than ours? ).
