firehouse is always good but make a reservation and prepare to spend some currency, beba's is good too (italian place in sac) but also expensive, mikunis is all over the area and good sushi, Frank Fat's in old town is nice and they have some locations elsewhere that are nice too... typpe of food varies slightly depending on location.
O the Kitchen is greatttttt. Great place for a date but I expensive, probably 60-80 bucks for a dinner of two.

Umm, The Melting Pot is good. Good fondue, but again fairly pricey...dinner for two of us was about $80 bucks.

the kitchen is really good, and a fun dinner, but its going to be really tough to get in even on a reservation at this short of notice. go to spataro down on L street across from the capital. amazing italian. i know Randy Paragary, and spataro is one of his other restaruants. quiet, romantic, all that jazz.
Friar Tucks in Nevada City is an awesome place, its very classy
