M4 Rail Systems? (DUW)

Jul 6, 2004 9:39pm
I'm currently looking for a rail system for my TM M4 and want to know what everyone's personal preferences for a specific type and where I can them. I have a Sun Project M203 (non RIS) already attached to the bottom of the gun so i'm looking for something like this: . This supposedly is for an M249.. will this fit an M4 w/ an M203? I want an RIS with only the top and 2 side rails.

i'm pretty sure thats just a regular ris.. since the rs for the m4 comes in two pieces i think?

yeah that's just a normal ris. i'd get a marui or mosquito mold's ris if you want that standard look. don't get CA cause even though its tough, the specs on it are messed up so that the rails are sometimes uneven and they don't line up with the flat top. if you want to get a free floating ris, try looking at the gb tech and g&p ones that are out.

I think I like the MM the most.. now I have an SP M203 mounted and I still have the wiring in the front.. will the battery still fit there with an RIS or do I need to get a battery relocation kit to the stock?

you could always try getting an an/peq2 battery box and storing teh battery in there.

Your best bet is to go with the battery box when installing a ris. The size of a battery that you can fit inside of the ris is so small that it is almost worthless.

Hey I just had an idea. Say you had a broken M203,. And I man fragged, no way this thing will work right. but it still looks ok. Well you could store a large battery in the shell chamber! And it would be really quick to change batteries of somehting happened to yours. So you get the look of a 203 with the battery power of an M16.

I think it may be a good idea to run like a crane type stock to where the battery is located in the rear of the gun. I'm running the set up you are describing. With an M203 and batteries in the front of the gun, the gun is quite front heavy. If you are going with the batteries in the front, I highly recommend you get a reinforced outer barrel.

The shaft is hollow, but I'm not sure how much power you will be able to get using that small amount of space. If you really want a rear battery your best bet is to go with either a crane stock, or a full stock (making the gun a tactical carbine)

Ya you know having used just about every single AEG they make over the past 3 years I have been airsofting I can say that IMO the sliding stock on an M4 aided me only in slinging the thing on my back when i needed to crawl. My SR-16 tac Carbine was more than compact enough for me. na d if you meet me you ould see I am not a small guy. So unless you really like the look I say go with the full stock. You can get a good 1800 mah batt in them without modding it and unless you're really trigger that should last you 2-3 days.

You'd be lucky to fit more than 3 cells in the buffer tube. You still need space for the connector. What upgrades do you have in your gun now?? What type of battery are you using??

Stock gun with the stock battery. I was thinking of having the battery pack extend throughout the length of the shaft and continue into the hollow stock (when extended into the 3rd position). I was measuring it all out and I think i can make it work. But you're right, I don't think it would be able to accomodate any type of larger battery pack with a higher capacity.
