UTG M14
I am fairly new to airsoft and I'm not looking to spend the super buko bucks on it until I learn more and try it out. I've noticed that the UTG guns run at much cheaper prices. One perticular gun I am looking at buying is the UTG M14 Spec Ops AEG from Shorty USA
dont buy it, listen to me when i say dont buy it, save up for a tm. if u buy this and dont listen to my advice then i have failed and u SUCK!
What will be bad about the UTG?
UTG is just a rebrander, they don't actually make their own guns. The first generation of the MP5s from UTG were okay, but definatly not marui quality.

plus I know that the one your refering to cannot take marui m14 mags, it was on SOCALairsoft
God save us everyone will be burning inside the fires of a thousand suns.
have any of you owned a UTG and seen the bad stuff?

Well I did listen and you guys have my attention. I just want to know if the information is from first hand experiences owning the low end guns...
i have WORKED on UTG their qualtity is below that of a dead hooker with crabs! stay away man stya away.
I own a utg spetz and I love it. I baught my utg because I couldn't afford a nicer gun and I wanted to start plying right away instead of saving for months. I was so happy when I got my gun. It performs great, but the mags sucked. After buying the gun and new mags I could have baught a nicer gun for a little more, but who knows I suck at saving money so I probably would have never even baught a gun. Most the guys on here probably don't even have one stock part on their guns anyway. By buying a utg I can upgrade my gun one piece at a time and still have something to play with.

If you just want something to use till you can save up for a nice one I have an upgraded well r8 I can sell you for cheap. It's actually a decent gun. It can keep up with the rich bitchees.

I've owned a Version 3.5 UTG MP-5 and the M324 Sniper rifle. I was able to do a back to back comparison of the MP5 to a Marui MP5J that I played with at CQB one day.

If you want a UTG, i would buy one of their spring guns. THey aren't easy to upgrade, but they are built well enough for serious gameplay. I wouldn't trust their AEG's because i hear they wear quick and come loose. I've used the m324 for a while, its nice and i actually regret selling it because it was so light yet sturdy. So if your going UTG go spring.

Yeah, I had one of those Spring M324s and it rocked after the teflon mod. 420 fps on .20s for a $100. Pretty fun gun, it was reliable, looked good, one of the few really good deals in the lowend guns. I regret selling mine too... it was a fun gun

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm not sure what I'll do. I have enough money to buy either gun so I'm not sure... I think I may test out the UTG gun and see what its like. Then if I'm not satisfied I can always give that to my brother and move on to the TMs. But still, not sure what I'll do.
You can buy used guns too, you know. Just an alternative.
heheh, Just looking through all this airsoft/military stuff on the web....Wow it gets me pumped up. My family is fairly redneck and we like to shoot guns....
ummm if u want a rifle id say buy a CA Tactik. ITs the SG-1 but all metal, CA v2 boxs have been getting really nice. I think its in your price range.
Had a Chinese clone once... sucked major donkey balls so I got rid of it as soon as I could and never regretted it. It's going to sound a bit harsh at first but for a person who is venturing into airsoft for the first time, he/she should have the best possible experience so that he/she will continue to pursue the hobby/sport. To that end, a Tokyo Marui (esp. their newer productions such as the M14 SOCOM, Type 89) is the most reliable AEG to get. It will almost certainly work out of the box (provided that you can follow instructions), will have good range and power, even to compete with the "big guns" out there, and it will last and last. Upgrading, however is another story, but seriously, the people who have posted before me know what they are talking about, so if you are posting on this forum to seek advice, then please take our advice and go with a TM, you will find it hard to regret your purchase, which is less than what I can say about Chinese clones.
My best advice for new airsoft players:
I've used a UTG M14 before. It's INCREDIBLY light because the plastic body on it is incredibly thing and fragile... It performs pretty decently, but it sounds like it's struggling and the ROF isn't that great.
