For standard run-of-the-mill air-soft....Midland GXT550 14 mile series GMRS radios work well with the Midland neck supported headset/boom mic.

Just save up enough dough and invest in the DevGru Frogman setup. You won't regret it. As for radio you can pretty much get a decent 2 pack of Motorola Talkabout radios at Costco or Wal Mart for under $50.

If the guy doesn't want to spend a lot and still have something that works very well for the $, the items I just posted will work well. They have not failed in 2 years and work flawlessly with regards to a non-high end set-up that actually works...LOL!

Whatever radio you go with just make sure it has the capability of turning off the "roger beep" after evry transmission. Nothing is more annoying or hurts the ears like those damn 4-tones blasting in your ear.

Bit the bullet and bought it, but Oakland didn't have the adapter. Fits good, but not very well with my glasses.

I would say flat no to Dev Gru sets. I have owned 2 and they are both broken. and as far a DEVGRU's lifetime warranty it is non existent! It only applies to the Military sets and they run about $200 more than the ones they sell for airsoft.

Damn, any experience with the Frogman set?

Just adaptor issues with my frogman. Some work some don't. most don't wok when you need them to. However the Mic works better than the throat mics.

better than the throat mic! kinda holow sounding but better than the throat mics. on of the problems I have noticed with the adaptors is the work for a while then they just stop working. I think it is an issue with cheap wire, and from use the wire gets streched and it shorts inside the cable.
