I bought a red dot and bipod for my m4. Took off the carry handle and mounted the rds and of course the front iron sight is in the way. Only problem is the bipod I got mounts on the stock mount position(which I want). I already looked around and all of the units for sale to replace the front sight without the sight(i.e. the bushmaster piece) don't have the stock bipod mount. So I was just contemplating lopping off the top half of the iron sight with a dremel or something. First of all anyone think that would look like crap because I personally, trying to picture it, am not sure. Second once I do it what should I use to replace the color on the metal because I am pretty sure that the exposed area that I cut is going to be silverish. Should I just get some black paint and go over it?
