Marushin M1 Carbine
I have been searching for information on the Marushin M1 carbine, and decided to post here in hope of finding someone who has shot or owned one before. I am considering buying this gun, but would like to know what you thought and how well it performed. I am planning on using it as a sharpshooter/counter-sniper type role, and was wondering how well it worked in such an environment and if it could be used effectively despite being single shot. If you could let me know what kind of accuracy and range you got with the 8mm version, I would greatly appreciate it. Also what do you think about its durability? What I need most is its effective range and groupings at cartain distances. Thank you very much in advance for your help.
this website has a review done of the 6mm version in it's review's section. snoopy wrote it:

Thanks a lot. I cant beleive I forgot to check in the review section. This review has a ton of info, but if anybody has some info on the 8mm I would appreciate it. Thanks again for your help anguirus130.
if you find a 6mm version don't pass it up, they're very rare. The 8mm bb's have more surface area which could mean less accuracy.

zackyfarms has one, the 8mm version. he let me shoot it, solid as a rock, very sweet gun... shot soooo far and freakin hard, all metal and wood, very nice gun
shawn's review says quite the opposite...the 6mm versions are pretty good to him.

6mm's are sweet. light, accurate!!!, and extremely fun to shoot. however, they do feel cheap.....but they arent....its weird. i have to check out the 8mm version, i am very interested in the m1 carbines. i also want a SP m40 or a CA m24....lol my bolt-action sniper side is emerging....again.muahahhahha
Haha I know what you mean Chaos bringer.
like i said, Zackyfarms has, as in ownes and plays with, the 8mm version. IMO the 8mm version is extremely more solid than the 6mm one, as i have held and shot both versions. li believe zackyfarms aim is > zackyfarms123
6mm versions are extremely hard to find.... the 8mm version is easier to find...cost of BBs though...a little bit too much for 8mm bbs...for a couple of bucks more, you could get better 6mm bbs than 8mm bbs...i mean what like $15 bucks for a bag of 500 round .34g bbs....for around 16 bucks you can get 1000rounds of .36g BBs...more dense...more accurate and precise at longer distances...

.5 cents a shot, damn, that adds up!

i dont mind the expensive ammo, its a single shot rifle, ive had one bag of 500 rounds and i still have like 300 left and i have had it for quite a while

I dont think its five cents a shot...And even if it was, Its not full auto so it would probly end up saving you money because you wouldnt shoot as much :D
Well even though I know plenty of people who use green gas in Arizona just fine, Im just wondering if the M1 would be more vulnerable to leaking if I used it in that kind of weather since I have heard of leak prone magazines on the M1. Should I just use HFC134a then? And how fast do you think it would shoot with HFC134a gas in 100+ degree weather? Basically I am trying to figure out how influential heat is on gas and their fps outouts. Thanks in advance for your help.
I have the 6mm version I bought it off of Snoopy. This thing is a great gun. It is very accurate and has great range. But my gun is also old. So I do not play with it as much as I would if it were newer and they made more of them. It is very light due to the wood being used onthe gun. The hop is perfect. I used .28 with green and was chroning at like 440+. 134 is also a good alternative and better in the heat. Which brings me to the mags. I have 3 mags. 1 leaks too much to use, the other leaks but is usable, 3rd one is brand new and rocks! You can still buy mags for the rifle and with one fill can go through about 48 shots or 3 reloads of the mag. Very nice and reloading is simple and fast. I do not believe that you can buy rebuild for the mags and I have not taken mine aparttoo see what is causing the leak and then being to go to a hardware store to buy the part. Lastly with the mags I am not sure if the mags tend to leak or if the ones I have are just old.
