Can anybody save me time from searching on the web by giving me their insight on the actual laws on painting the orange tip black on airsoft guns. I know most airsofters do it but what's the law? I'm curious before I do it.
You should just go buy a new one and keep the orange tip. When you transport your gun from the feild to home or home to field you should have the orange tip on your gun.Not alot of people do it but if you want to follow "California Law" Then I would do that.
wear a diaper and a life-jacket.

From what I can understand and or heard of is that when you have the orange tip on the airsoft gun it is a BB gun. When you remove or paint over the tip you then have changed it to a replica weapon. Still the same to you but not to the police. Thats the only difference to that I can think of right now.
you could paint the whole gun hot pink, and if you present it as a real weapon you will be treated as if it is real...
ok Mike shut up. the law is whenever you have one of these guns in a public the balze orange tip MUST be on it (bassicly, ukau will most likly come in here with the facts ina little while) so ya, if you are nervous about it keep the blazo orange on it. I DONT on any of my guns. None of them have stock flash hiders and im to lazy to paint it. Ive been pulle dover by cops, they searched they said cool toys, heres yor ticket have a nice day. So ya.,
