I did wrestling and judo in high school . Did judo since 5th grade and am brown belt, too lazy to do kata for the black belt. I did some jiu jitsu but I don't really like groundwork.

If your still in high school I highly suggest joining the wrestling team. It'll help you alot in physical conditioning and teach you groundwork. Be like Dan Severan.

I was cracking up reading everyone's responses in this post. I did strictly BJJ for a few years then transition to Kajukenbo for two years now. I train at a great school in San Jose. Here is a little history about KAJU. I guess you can also classify it as Sport Jujitzu with some focus based foundations in the form of kickboxing, judo, and jujitzu.

krav Maga / Spetznas combat systems seem most effective to me as far as applied marshal arts go...other sure to look pretty tho :) lol im certainly not one to talk tho..I study 15th century combat styles.Talhoffer's Fechtbuch, Vadi's Arte Gladiatoria, Sigmund Ringeck's codex, Codex Wallerstein.....ruthlessly effective if you happen to carry around a poleaxe/longsword randomly

I'm no martial artist, but it seems to me that most schools of martial arts emerged from the desparate need to defend one's life and to survive. Feels like today so many forms of martial arts have become sports like baseball and football, with competitions that emphasize strict adherence to rules like no punching/kicking the face or groin of your opponent. Now an emphasis on safety is great, I couldn't agree more, but I feel that the goal of many martial arts today is not like they were from hundreds and thousands of years ago, which was defense against armed opponents. Just an inarticulate thought, so please feel free to chime in.
My best advice for new airsoft players:

I myself am a master of Batboot-Fu. Trainig is intense, it requires a Louisville slugger and a pair of size 11 steel toe DR Martins.
