having trouble picking next gun

May 9, 2008 8:52pm
seems damn near impossible for me to pick an airsoft gun for my next purchase. I have looked at just about everything but as it was for my first purchase it seems near impossible to choose one. I have looked at FAL's G3's and all sorts of other guns. So far only the FAL has grabbed my attention but the only good one is the Classic Army and its 390.00 which is stupid for what you are getting for the money + battery I could build a BAR 10.

i have owned alot of g3's in in my opinion they're great long range guns... but freq is right m-14's are great for long range and are known for their reliability...

I own a jg m16a4 and I have to say its great! It has a bout 10 0 dollars of upgrades: tightbore,m110 spring, motor, ftk, new cylinder and piston head, h nub and bucking and the base was about 120$ So all in all it was about 220$ and it performs F***ing awesome. My friend has an CA m14 and my gun can hit a shoebox 75ft farther than his can.

the more I look around the more I am drawn to the FAL. I may just have to plop down 385.00 for the CA SA58 rifle. I figure if you don't go for what you want just to save 50-100 bucks your just going to be back looking at that same gun again in a few months wishing you had put down that extra cash. I wish there was a newer version FAMAS because I really like those but maybe I can still get one for cqb if I really want.

... in airsoft where they all perform about the same it down to how your gun looks to you.

and it can make the selection process all that much more difficult. It seems that there are few technical reasons for choosing one gun over anouther. gearbox type may be one reason but they all require about the same upgrade parts to function at the level I want.

Please check the other posts for more detailed info. but as far as the order I'd personally go for accuracy:

well the gun I am looking at has a metal hopup unit that looks solid. I don't think my current gun has a nub on the hopup bucking. I thoulght only ones like the firefly had nubs but I'm a NUB myself so I don't know a lot. or are you talking about the peice that adjusts the hop.

all hopups have some form of "nub" to push down onto the hopup rubber to provide spin on the bb.

OK I am seeing that now on the cylinder heads. Hmm .. so they just press fit? I guess thats beyond the scope of this thread, I will have to do more reaserch on air nozzles and heads. So far from what i have read the SA58 has gotten good reviews for build but i havent seen much on initial performance. I expect it to perform about the same as any other gun of equal size. I was surprised to see that one review called it the best gun CA made.

All cylinder heads are friction fit. Well, they have a small pin in the actual gearbox shell that helps hold them as well.

I agree looks are very important in airsoft.

I acctualy think the ris ruins the look of the gun. I think most guns look better with the stock forgrip and I don't like holding onto a ris even if it is covered. I have the 614 that has a ris with a forward grip and the peq2 battery box and a laser but I would rather just have a M4 front grip on it for looks with a crane stock.
