what tanaka is it? if it's an aics, then it's the hop up bucking. the m700 uses a different hop up rubber. pictures would be nice.

if the rubber piece you yanked out resembles an aeg hop up bucking, then you have an aics which uses the best gun hop up kit. i really can't help you much other than that without either seeing the gun or decent pictures of the part in question as well as the gun.
