The Rise of the Clones
I was reading an article about airsoft in the most recent issue of
Shotgun News recently. It was about two "clone" guns -- a UTG clone of what looks very similar to an APS-2 (retail ~$85)
<CheaperThanDirt link> and an AGM M14 AEG (retail ~$130)
<airsplat link>Gun control is not Crime control.
[color=orange]You probably spent alot of time making this.
[quote="Amateur Ninja"]obviously you dont know him.
 Didn't take me too long, but it'd probably take you less time to read than it took me to write.
Gun control is not Crime control.
I think that as the ChiMan (Chinese Manufactured) guns improve their quality, the first tier gun producers (maybe not TM) will have to take a hard look at improve their QC as well if they want to keep selling at their prices. That said, I have a JG AUG and love it, should be getting a JG M16 soon, I'll keep everyone updated on how it goes.
My best advice for new airsoft players:
Please do keep the reviews of the clones coming, lineman! SacAir needs a pioneer/trailblazer of "ChiMan" guns. :)
Gun control is not Crime control.
The Echo 1s are supposed to be decent and they just came out with their own upgrade parts(supposed to be from the same manufacture that makes Guarder parts, but so far has been here say).
ummm u forgot one option. It may take money away from top brand makers and force them out of bussines. Hurts to say it but if enough people stop buying TM and CA then ya...they will stop makeing AEGs or turn around and run completly. Hurts to say it but I could see it happening. Maybe not closeing completly but they may stop impolrting to the US if its not worth their time.
Most of Echo1's line of AEGs are JGs (M733, M4, M16, G36, etc.). Echo1 is a rebrander like UTG. I just ordered the M16, will give you guys a update when it comes in, though I do believe that Glen/ Doc_Holliday's already got one and he is quite fond of it.
My best advice for new airsoft players:
ok here are some echo 1 for 405$ id rather buy a TM or a CA

seriously, echo1's overpriced, and if you read the warranty fine print you have to send the gun back to the retailor you bought it from, which may be Hong Kong or some other far away place. The JG guns have certainly surpassed my expectations, there are good ChiMan brands and bad ChiMan brands.

it will probably be the m733
I'd still tell ya to buy a JG, save the extra money. The G36 doesn't look bad, was gonna get it, but then remembered that I still needed money for when the TM Skorp is released next week.

all i can say is that i will NEVER buy a "clone" again. Marui replica my ass.
at this point I'd have to ask what kind of ChiMan gun you bought, as I said before, there's lots of bad and some good, gotta know what to buy.
My best advice for new airsoft players:
I know you said that JG was good over breakfast saturday. You really stand by that brand that much?
Josh, I will never say that the ChiMan guns are better than TM, becaust it's simply not true. However I already have a whole bunch of TM based guns, and want to see what else is out there, all I can say is that with a TM hop bucking and a TM full cylinder, my JG AUG shoots 340 FPS and bbs fly 150ft. I believe that JG is worth the money that one pays for, I just ordered a M16, we'll see how it goes when it gets here. Again, TM will always be the best for stock reliability.

I thought this was a thread about another Star Wars film

The JG aug body fooled me too. Texturized stock makes it feel really durable and thick but upon closer inspection, it was way thinner. The body sides also had terrible seem lines.
There goes my idea of a cheap Phantom set up.
