Gear box question

Apr 24, 2007 4:19am
Has anyone ever worked on a gear box for a Star 249? All of the gears and the motor are new. However the gears are no longer turning but I do hear something trying to work. So does anyone have the knowledge to help work on it.

don't try doing anything you might burn out one of the contact switches. You may have blown your piston and one of the tooths maybe jamming your gears. Since the gearbox is clear you should be able to see inside without cracking it open to see if anything is broken.

or it may be the outershell, there are no warrenties on any STAR M249's, cause the gear box cracks after short use, it may require a metal outer shell

I've worked on a star m249 with the pgc gearbox personally. But don't know how to help you out without being able to visually inspect it or in detailed explaination beyond what you stated.

lets see i know this m249 it has a maddog metal gear box init. It sounds like a gear isnt shimmed right or maybe jamming on a bad piston tooth. Have fun.
