I was thinking about getting a M1A and was wondering if this stock is legal.

I would say yes. Kel-tec has a similar stock built specifically for California standards, but i can't say for sure.

You can get the MagPul Precision Rifle stock for about 220$. (+30$ or so for the airsoft adapter)Same style. I want it soo bad for my M16A4, but...I'm poor.

The MAIN issue with M1A's and mounting optics to them is that if you go with either a full sized NM or a Scout version and use the Springfield III generation optic mount it raises the optic eye level about 1" to 1.5" higher normal. There really is no decent "looking" cheek piece that you can buy especially if you own a synthetic version M1A. My advice would be to be ready to shell out over $3K for an ideal M1A setup (which in reality is more like S/A's M25 "Whitefeather"/Carlos Hathcock version)
