I've tried searching with no success and I'm not sure if this is against forum rules (if so please delete this thread).
take the slide off, remove everything off it. sand it down to bare metal, primer it, lightly sand the primer, finish it with a flat black, or gloss or whatever color you want. install sites and put back together.
Wouldn't sanding remove the trades? If not you should sand but with a high grit. I used 300 and 600 and it took me 60 minutes while watching tv. Thats not including the hard to get places. Personally, industrial paint remover at your local department store for the tip. Try that, if you don't like how the colors don't match...sanding is the only other way and if you dn't want to use ur hands go to the store and get it *sand blasted*

depends on the paint. Paint Remover will take off the undercoat and the orange all together. I used Nail polish to take off the orange from the barrel of my old UMP. It depends on the paint
