I'm trying to make some ghillie for my rifle out of burlap.

Of the weapons i've seen (Snipers at Quantico), they used strips of cloth tied to netting, then attached netting to the weapon using strips of velcro. (could easily be taken off in a hurry)

The last one was the best. Just get some burlap or jute and affix it to your rifle with netting or zip ties. And for a ghillie suit. Just make it, its cheaper, and sort of an initiation process in becoming a sniper. You can make it to your environment and it just comes out nicer. They have kits on how to make them and they come with all of the accesories if you want.
