Family Guy
Okay so I recorded the most recent episode of family guy. The one where peter went back in time and the world was changed for "the better". I'm gonna have to say, I'm about to completely write off one of my favorite shows. Why cant it be just funny anymore?

yeah i never got into any of those shows. Family guy a little until it started sucking. About all i watch is Aqua Teen, Space Ghost when it was on, the Daily Show (even though hes a flaming liberal and im a moderate republican) and the Colbert report on occasion. And Battlestar Gallactica. But tv is pretty much lame these days.

but for a flaming liberal he is funny as f*ck.
Yeah Jon Stewart is great. And as much of a liberal as he is he still loves to make fun of his own party just as much.

Brian's political opinion is just that -- an opinion of a fictional character. If that is all that is stopping you from watching Family Guy, then so be it. You can get upset and try to shut out all politcal opinions that are different than your own, or you can accept them as opinions and shrug them off as stupid or ignorant or misguided.
Gun control is not Crime control.
Seth MacFarlane is stating his opinion through his show that he created and wrote. That is his right. Wether I agree with it or not is not what is being discussed.

Wait, Seth MacFarlane also created, writes, and directs American Dad (along with Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman. That doesn't mean that Stan Smith's (the "American Dad") hatred/fear of gays is the opinion of Seth MacFarlane, does it? I don't get the logic that "If a character says it, then that is obviously the writer's own, personal opinion." :?
Gun control is not Crime control.
Wait, I dont find American Dad funny either.

I don't think it's the political humor (or... not humor) that is making you not want to watch the show...
