quick noobie question

Jun 13, 2007 10:44pm
I just put in a systema hop up with a guarder clear bucking, I know its supposed to increase accuracy and hop up sensitivity but does it increase fps? I know its a noob question but gotta ask =) thanks for the help in advance

I don't think that's a noob question - i have no idea...

I'm not entirely sure but as far as I know hop up is just putting backspin on the bb and does not affect fps.

muchos gracias. ill be chronoing my gun sometime this week, before the upgrade i was at about 380 solid if i see any significant change ill let you know.

its sometimes, well most of the most of the time increases FPS by about 20 but its not exact.

whenever you chrono guns it is a good idea to turn the hop-up all the way off to get a sort of baseline measurement, and while you might not think the hop-up affects your fps very much i have seen guns go from 405fps with hop-up on to 455fps without hop-up

i just got back from aex and i found that my gun is shooting alot lower than before. I believe the bucking made the difference. I put a sp100 and it was shooting 380 solid with the CA hop up with stock bucking, then i replaced it with a systema hop up with clear guarder bucking and it went down to 360-320. What do you guys think, should i upgrade to a 110 or leave the way it is? Will I lose alot of range if i do not upgrade? I know everyone says use .25, but im not sure i will get any range. Any ideas, much thanks.

If you were shooting a solid 380 with the stock bucking why change it? You're lose of fps could be do to improper seating of the hop up rubber.

Im positive the bucking was seated correctly. I had AEX do it, and i know they did it correctly. I think the thickness of the rubber in the clear bucking affected th FPS. I chagned hop up's cause i wanted more accuracy, do you think i should roll with a 110 or keep the 100 in there?

changing springs or fps will do absolutely nothing to change accuracy. Learning how to dial in your hop-up will and using a good hop-up rubber will.

and bbs dont forget bbs james lol but ya the average player cant adjust a hop worth squat. At one game some kids accutally walked up to me and asked to show them HOW to work a hop unit. I felt like either A: Turning it all the way off and being mean OR B: cahrging them money lol. I did neither and simply dialed in thier hop units lol.

Sure, you can increase the fps by sticking a new spring in there. Will you get better accuracy than before? I highly doubt it since your gun is not shooting where its supposed to be. That means you're loosing an air seal which contributes to inconsistencies between shots (which may show when shoting the gun on full auto as we'll).

fps provides onlly about 60% of what your effective range is. Hopup is the other 40%.

okay thanks for the tips yall. Sorry about the previous post i wasn't trying to challenge any of you. So what happened was i was using the original CA hop up with a sp110 and i was shooting to hard, around 415. I decided to change springs to a sp100 to take my fps down a bit and got to 380 with the CA Hop up. I then proceeded to change to the systema hop up with the guarder clear bucking and am now shooting 360. I have adjusted the hop up all the way up and all the way down and am ranging from 320-360. I know that the change in FPS is from the hop up/bucking. How do i check the air seal? Im familiar with the parts in the actual gun, but not sure how to make it "bullet proof" as you would say in the industry. One of the guys at AEX told me that changing to a thinner bucking would decrease the FPS. Could it be the bucking that is making my gun shoot lower. forgive my ignorance. thanks

not likely. To check the air seal take your piston, cylinder, cylinder head, air seal nozzel. Put it all together as it would sit in the gear box. Then put a finger over the exit hole in the nozzel. Push the piston like how it would go if it was shooting, then pull it back. How does it feal? Is it hard to push the piston? does it have good suction on your finger. What your looking for is the best compresion possible.
