silencer regulations...
I play a lot of paintball and love woodsball, but I'm thinking heavily about switchin over to airsoft for the enhanced realism, better weapons, and cheaper ammo.
HUH? These are all REPLICAS. They will blowup in your face if you try them on real steel. Also they do not silence the aeg, maybe a nbb like the mk23. So it is cool. Almost everything you SEE is pure vanilla flavoring. They do almost nothing to the gun's performance.

true but some cops may freak out. eh just as long as the silencer has an orange tip  and no foam its  its legal. Needless to say the gun I had one with a silencer attached was my mp5 sd5 and it had no orange and a ton of foam so in that aspect it was illegal but my neighbors who are sherrifs didn't care, in fact they thought those were so cool they want ones lol.
So, lemme get this straight... if an airsoft silencer has foam in it, it's illegal?

Thats not strait. Guys if foam airsoft silencers were found to be real silencers, MANY reailers would have been busted by now. It is a felony, and its not a state thing. Dont worry.

i never said it made it a real but i dont think its legall.
You're misunderstanding. If it can suppress a real firearm, threaded or not, its considered a real silencer. So if our foam ones are to be found able to change the sound of a real firearm, they would all be very, very illegal. That being said, I don't think cheap foam is gonna do shit for a real gun. Even a .22. And if anyone tries and has success, keep your mouth shut.

i believe that foamed suppressors are TECHNICALLY illegal because (this is what i was told a while back) they can silence a .22 for one shot... kinda like the 2L bottle trick which i won't elaborate on here for the people who already know. But i don't think the police know that, ATF maybe since its their job but they know airsoft shops don't sell RS so they're not going to waste their time and money busting an airsoft dealer for it when they have more pressing things to do.
ok im just saying but basicly

Your logic is irrefutable.

Main reason i ask is i read an article on the net about paintball/airsoft gun silencers and there was something about if the silencer is detachable and is, in fact, a silencer (defined by a device that reduces the sound of as little as one shot fired by 1 decibel or more) it is a felony to use on a firearm, *and* even **have in possession**. That felony also came with a $250,000 fine and up to 15 years in prison.

yup, thats one of the articles I read.
PS: Using the 2 liter bottle trick is actually considered a "silencer/suppressor." ANYTHING made/used to or attempt to suppress or moderate the report of a firearm will qualify as the law's definition of a silencer.
