Jun 15, 2007 6:26pm
This could be either really cool, or really, well, not so cool I guess.

i want one

lawl. I don't know if I should do that or pay for a bunch of crap for an epic camping trip with my friends before I ship. I'm putting in for a machine gunner MOS, so I dunno if it would make sense for me to get one. Just might see an awful lot of those hogs. I hope so. The m240 bravo is a sexy hog but the m60 is friggin legendary... again, I dunno.

HAHA! Andrew! I'm getting my license here in a day or two, so you will soon be sick of us and our silly games. And you can witness the amazingness of my "externally pimped" chevy Lumina.

i had the star SAW Para with a PGC gear box, thing was beast.
Jun 15, 2007 9:50pm
You don't really need 400 fps anyway in a SAW for airsoft, stock STAR is fine.
Check out my FS thread! Lots for sale!

ya all u need is semi decent range and the ability to lay down fire in long SUPPRESSIVE burst. A support weapon is suppressive weapon not made for real range or accuracy. Hence the 2500 rnd mag lol

Hooray for lobbing spray and pray type playing. Wow that was a weird sounding sentence.

me too, but even though I like the role of a suppress guy, they are too bulky for play, I think. But they look soooooooooooo cool!

I held the Inokatsu and VFC m60's. And to be honest they didn't feel too bulky. And since the Star is a lot lighter it maybe the ticket for dealing out some plastic death.

I was running an guarder rpk and that thing was a pig! And the long barrel at close ranges bites to me at least. If you can set it down then they rule. But a hort barreled rifle too me at least sems to be too my liking more these days.

I love my STAR M249 mkII. But it has a Wild Monkey mechbox. Bonus of the metal mechbox is that it adds some weight to an otherwise very light support weapon. If I were to get the M60 and I am seriously thinking about it, the first thing to go will be the plastic mechbox. I am sure they work just fine...but I would not want to risk it. I will probably buy one in August. I will either get that or an G&G TM M14 EBR long barrel.... I just havent decided on which one first...

I say by the looks of the gearbox you should be able to just swap out between your m249 and m60.

Thats what I was thinking. It looks to be the same mechbox.

hop up chamber maybe different but I'd bet money that the mechbox itself is identical.

ya your right on that. I mean mostly in fit...not sure i cant remember if the hop unit self detaches from the shell. if so then buy a separate hop then u can change out the gear box easly.
Jun 16, 2007 10:39pm
The hop unit is seperate from the mechbox...just the nozzle goes into it the hop unit...The hop unit can be any config. in relation to the fore part of the mechbox it doesn't matter. I looked at the internal picture of the m60 and the mechbox has the same shape and groves in it as the 249. I have been looking at other m60's and 2 things keep me away from most 1. the price and 2. the bellows air unit. That just does not seem to me to be very reliable.

well the belows isnt not that good. And its exspensive, a new unit cost like 90$ so if u strip a piston then ya. But for the TOP m60 line up they do makea PGC gear box. I know Airsoft Mode has one in his TOP m60 and it kicks ass.
Jun 16, 2007 11:46pm
I have heard but I dont know personally that the Tops are of poor quility. Is that what you have heard, or have you had good experiance with any tops that you may have owned? The Top M60's have a good price thats for sure! Do the use a standard type mechbox?

i have never owned one, used a few before. Thier shell is BELIVE are different for the belows system. Ya the gear boxs are shi t for quality. Bad tollerances, bad gears, bad everything. If u get one its worth it to put the PGC gear box in it. IF you can find one lol.
Jun 16, 2007 11:55pm
Well if I do get an M60 it will probably be the Star. I can just swap the mechbox back and forth, its not like it is hard to do. 2 screws and its out....lol

lol i know, one thing i miss about that gun
Jun 17, 2007 1:55am
actually after looking at the gearbox again in the pictures. I don't remember the m249's having a stopper rail on top. Could they have opted to use the L85 series gearbox instead?
