Never really like punk, although i did like the Offspring. I would say it is mostly dead.
I love Op Ivy, although that is ska/punk, but way more punk then ska. And I like lagwagon alot. But yeah not alot of people listen to it anymore. I dont see how something is dead though if people still listen to it and bands still play it.

here's a list of old bands that started it all and what it should sound like:
the cr@p they call punk rock today is NOT punk rock IE: Blink 182, sum 41, off spring, and those sorts. If fact that music is nothing more than rock pop labled punk rock by a very one sided music industry. They want all musis to sound the same and have a hook with in 30 seconds of the song starting. They do not belive in free expression.
Thanks Ryan, I was going to say something earlier, but didn't want to get into this thread.
I was just thinking about this. It seems, to me at least, that the hardcore/metal scene has pretty much replaced the punk scene. All the angst ridden angry little teens go start metal bands now.

its not even GOOD metal. ITs more screamo. my buddys dad OWNS the Boardwalk down in Orangvale and out of all the bands i see there not that many of them i thought were anygood but i am VERY picky.
Whole Wheat Bread FTW. They opened at a Streetlight Manifesto show I went to in sac a year ago and they were pretty good. And pop rock FTL, i hate that stuff cant stand hearing it. Its all so formulaic and there is nothing punk about it.
