I have an empty MOLLE vest and I'm trying to decide what sort of mag pouches (preferably MultiCam in color) to buy and attach.
Gun control is not Crime control.
Whats the base youre gonna be putting the pouches on? I currently have two AK/M4 mag pouches that hold a total of 12 m4 mags ( now down to roughtly 9 because I got MagPulls. The pouches are nice, but I have a Compact Plate Carrier, and having a 3 point sling, I've recently thought that its becoming too bulky. So now I'm gonna have the two pouches on a belt, and wear the compact carrier ( and get a MOLLE holster eventualy ).
I'm going to be attaching the pouches to this:

Get pouches built for whatever mag. An ak mag will NOT fit into an M4 shingle. Maybe a AK74 mag, but not the other. There aren't that many options for AK's out there and if you're going to build a rig for one, do just that. Don't try and make it a dual purpose. Look up blackhawk AK pouches. They hold 2 or 3 per pouch but they are HUGE. Or if you want shingles, well, custom gear is expensive.

i have to disagree, my ak74 bakelite mags made a very comfy and snug fit into my shingle pouch.
I use '47 mags, so I'm outta luck on the shingles. :?

Those look similar to the black hawk pouches. I think they hold 3 side by side.
the shingles have no appeal over the closed-flap pouches (aside from quick removal and silence... but I'm pretty sure my mags will get really dirty with those. I'm a crawler. )
I used to store them bullet-up, but I think I might do bullet-down from now on. Still not completely sure which one is better for me. :?
