Green Gas Safety

Jul 10, 2007 5:47am
Is using green gas safe when it gets over 100 degrees outside? I've seen pictures of the aftermath of cans exploding in cars. I know that a magazine would never explode, but I'm a little worried that guns might take a lot more stress.

well im looking at a gas 1911...

if it's really hot (like 100+) i'd recommend using 134a just to save the seals on your mags. If you have a metal slide and reinforced internals, as a general rule you should be ok with green...but why risk it you know?

From what I heard on Airsoft Radio. 134a is a refridgerant type of gas, thats non CFC. Basicly the stuff they used now for keeping fridges cool. Green gas is merely propane with a bit of silicone oil in it. Reason why its called "green" is because its thought to be a safer refidgerant ( I believe. I'm going off of from what I listen to, a year and a half ago)

I had a can of green gas go boom in my truck two summers ago. Spence LEFT a full can in there and didn't tell me about it and well it was about 130 in my truck. I was going down a bumpy road and BOOM!!!! the explosion was so powerful the trunk lid blew off destroying my lock on it. lol. It also happened to a good friend of mine at a game last summer. Destroyed his car door, seat belt and few other things.

make sure you're not smoking while loading up your gas mags with propane/green gas

Nobody's mentioned it so I will: Prob not a good idea to store Green gas in your car in the middle of summer. Picked up some mags from ding the other day and he had one in the back of his truck that was about to explode: can completely deformed due to the expanded gas.

Just use propane by law no more than 4 pounds and better cans cheaper than green gas.
