Glocks, Xd's, 1911's, Sigs, S&W's are all nice and reliable guns.

I personally carry the Glock 30 or my Springfield 1911 daily depending on what I am wearing and the season. I agree with most of the posts here that overall that Glocks are one the most dependable and safe weapons when handled correctly. I personally prefer the .45 for my carry and home defense weapons but also have a couple 9mm's and would not hesitate to recommend them as well for a home defense caliber.

Dont buy a revolver. You carry half the ammo of a semi auto, cant reload fast, and jams arent cleared with anything close to speedy.

Revolvers can jam. And when they do, its catastrophic if you need the gun.

My dad has a model 60 smith and its a fun gun to shoot but the triger is wayyyyyy to touchy for defence work.

I love my .357 it just rocks. If you slap the cylinder open you are asking for trouble it will jack the timing up.

I was shooting my XD .45 at the range this morning and boy was I pleasantly suprised by it's accuracy. I was able to make a ok grouping for head and com shots. That is out of the box accuracy if I practice more with it I think I can do a lot better.
