Barrels heat up. Thats about it. I'm not 100% if your average AR will get hot enough to change colors.

Very nice look to it bty, and it does help. Just to get some additional advice, should I remove the upper and gearbox from the lower before painting? or just use painter's tape and covered the upper ?
Jul 15, 2007 2:45am
id remove it just to be sure.

what gun are you painting? an m4?
Jul 15, 2007 3:36am
Yea, I already dusted the Rail covers, buffer tube, and Aimpoint mount without issues. The Flash hider and Stock I have a run or two on. The run on the stock is hidden by the sling mount, and the flash hider, well, I got a bit trigger happy :P.

Painters tape? Stick a piece if tissue in the barrel and paint the whole damn thing.

as far as weathering it a less "painful" way than what andrew suggested would be to get something like a scalpel or razor blade that comes to a fine point and lightly touch it to the gun and then scratch it in a random sort of way to replicate the scratches you would get over time from scraping it against buckles on your gear or whatever. just take down the sharp corners where you would normally have alot of friction and scraping. and it might be a good idea to take it all apart when you spray it, but andrew's (plug the barrel and go for it) way would probably be the most authentic.

Well all I'm painting would just be the Lower Receiver. The Barrel wouldn't hurt for a touch up.

If you MUST paint it...paint it and play hard with it. It will get that beat up look in no time

Rock on.

Don't worry about prepping the surface. Don't de-gease it just shoot it with paint . since the paint wont have a good surface to bond to it will rub off quicker and give you the look you are looking for.

Just don't artificially wear it with acetone or something scratchy or whatever. PLEASE. It always looks like buttpaste when its not real wear.

From the pics, it looks like your reciever threads are pretty worn but the RIS is better. Kind of a hands on thing. How old are both items?

MBK is less than 30 days old. The only game its been to was the OP: Jaded Child.

Well, Took my M4 into AEX, and the guy at the counter (I gotta get names next time -.-) said they needed to wait for a Owner ("big Andrew", Peter, Mikey or who ever ) to see if they can approve the repair.

Nice. I just need the cables to be attached better to the batteries because I can tell they're starting to come off. Also, would it be possible to have the wires a bit shorter?
