Overdrive graphics settings
is it ok if i overdrive???
you can pay for school but you cant buy class
go to a 540Mhz and see how it runs.

are u sure??

well, what would be the main purpose for overdriving it? 40mhz wont do too much graphics wise, thats noticable, but it sure will turn up the heat a bit. ;)

Nah man rip off the case and put an external fan next to it, then CRANK THAT MUTHA TRUCKA ALL TEH WAY UP!!!

go little increments at a time, then go into a game and observe for little artifacts around the screen, LOOK CAREFULLY, if you can find none, either leave it as is or keep going in little increments.
it wont over heat ill tell you that

yeah check your BIOS settings and see what temperature the computer is supposed to shut down at. You can change it to your liking if you want.
well i bumped it all the way up, but my pc restarted withoiut notice, and reverted back to default, il just go little increments at a time like lawlz said...

It's no big deal, but please remember (Not just you i mean in general)
Yeah overclocking the video card isn't always worth it as he mentioned the performance gains are minimal as they only make it like 50MHz higher and still stay stable. Overclocking the cpu can be a different story, however pentium d's aren't the best overclockers so i wouldn't recommend it, but if you ever do overclock your cpu make sure you are always monitoring your temps (well on anything overclocked for that matter). For example I have an amd FX-60. 2.6GHz stock, and with the cooler i have on it now it can make it to 2.95 BUT it pushes 60 degree's celsius, and the threshold is 70, so i would be a fool to have my cpu clocked so high to where it's idle temp is so close to the threshold. Now when i put it at 2.8GHz im at 40 degrees idle and it doesn't get hotter than 60 even after playing Supreme Commander for 3 hours (no game can put more stress on hardware that SC) and i still see plenty of a performance gain for it to be worth it.

some people are just benchmark whores, that's all, in their opinion, any kind of gain is worth it. =/
Never got in to over clocking. No point in my IHMO.

benchmark whore? Ok. If overclocking my cpu .2GHz to get a substantial and very noticeable difference in frame rates in games and over all processing and loading of windows and every program i have makes me a benchmark whore then I guess im ok with that. People pay for that .2GHz difference if you notice the different prices on cpu's in the same family.

I like Asus a lot. I have used other boards alot, but ASUS have never done me wrong.

+1 to Asus boards. That's what I primarily build with.

I have not built in a few years. But my last was a AMD 3000 64 built on a Abit UL8 socket 939. I still have my ATI X800 256 in it(DAM that used to be expensive when it was new!)All wrapped up in a Antec Lanboy.

very nice system johny, I've ran with 2 7900s myself but I was a little disappointed when benchmarks showed the brother-card of the 7900, the 7950gtx had better benchmarks then my 2 7900s together, technology kills your wallet I tell you.
