Pet Peeve (OK one of many!!)
I don't know about others but one of my growing pet peeves is the pervasive use of phoenetic colloquialisms and internet abbreviations. Some example are like cuz, 4, and yer. Also including such perennial favorites like lol, fyi, btw, imho.

Gun control is not Crime control.
The fall of one leads to the rise of another. I just hope it's a hollywood style fall.

i dont use abbreviations as much as i used to, but i dont usually use proper punctuation when im typing on the internet, its just faster that way. however, when i need to write an essay or something for school or whatever, im still able to use proper grammer, punctuation, etc. using internet "language" i dont think actually adds to the degradation of the english language because the internet is the only place it gets used.
That's got to be the most used juvenile excuse in the world. "I can when I have to". The point isn't when you have to. The point is you should always not for the sake of being proper but for the sake of being understood.

I am a grammar nazi - I cannot stand it when people do not use proper english... I hate - and I stress hate - abbreviations. Abbreviations symbolize laziness and for some people, an inability to convey a message properly.

I am all for the proper use of the English language at all times. I too, fall into the sub-leet speak daily. I wrote ghey instead of gay.
aaaahhhhhhhhhhgh!
Well, I thought most of it was for text messages. It's a lot faster to text that way.

My grammar stinks, it is what it is. I was an english major in college and would get creamed on my grammer. It is the way I speak I do not pronounce words correctly. So multi-syllable words are very difficult for me. I have to use a dictionary to spell correctly. The english language is one of the most difficult to use due to all the weird rules ie. the use of "gh". Who thought of that and whoever did ought to be dropped kicked.

James you need to watch "Idiocracy" by Mike Judge (of Beavis and Butthead, King of the Hill, and Office Space fame). The movie correctly predicts the fall of our civilization.
My best advice for new airsoft players:
great movie.. ding loves and I mean loves 50 year old women... guys watch your moms around him..=]
I'm not against the evolution of the English language because of globalization. However, I am getting very annoyed at the lack of thought used by alot of our youth in their use of grammar. English is tough it isn't the easiest language in the world. There's a difference between using colloquialisms and just being plane lazy.

I stopped caring about grammar and spelling on the discussion boards after I hopped on a sidekick. It just takes too much effort to correct mistakes on there. On a computer however, the backspace is way easy to push.

i agree with all of this, but it just bugs me when people start posting on this topic with really good grammar and then go post on another thread and not care as much...here some guys pulled out the thesaurus. but elsewhere they dont care.
