changing my classic army m4s barrel out on my own

I want to change the barrel in my classic army m15 and i want to do it on my own. i want to put a better barrel that will give me longer range and maybe some more fps. if you kno how to do this and can give me specific details on how to that would be great also i want to kno witch barrel i should look at?

do the barrell first then think about the spring... whole different animal opening up the gearbox...

Like Johny says, if you've never taken a gun apart before I would recommend that you spend a little more money to get someone with experience working on guns to make sure everything works like they should. I tried to take apart a hop unit a few years ago and all the little springs and parts just flew apart... good times trying to find everything and putting it back together...
