Good points being made here. Personal responsiblity, who would have thought.

In my experience a gun is a gun whether it be an assault weapon or not. Banning assault type weapons is kind of a ridiculous statement. Example, I could assault someone the same way i.e. kill them with a pump shotgun that I can buy legally here, as I could with an AR-15. I could do the same damage. Yes there is no need for someone to have AR type weapon, but people want them and enjoy shooting them. Violent crime is going to happen regardless of what guns we ban, regardless of their features and whether or not they look mean. The same damage will occur regardless of the weapon... Someone will die. And we will never in a million years be able to do anything to stop that. Take the money out of writing bans on mean looking guns and put it to better use. You actually think gang bangers go out and buy at the store the firearm they are going to use in a killing. To believe that is crazy.

But we arent and we didnt so its a moot point, it is up to our generation to deal with this regardless of mistakes our government has made. And regardless these people are our enemies and we had a pretty good rapport with the world until 9/11 and Iraq but someday Saddam would have had to be dealt with, I am glad our children didnt have to do it. So instead of playing the Democrat blame game we should pull together and find a better way to make war on those that would attack us at home. People forget Marine barrack bombing SA, USS Cole bombing Yemen, 1993 WTC bombing NY. Regardless of our politics abroad they had no right to kill our civilians in some chicken$hit attacks.
