I have been looking into buying an M4 or some variant of it for some time now and have been seriously looking at the new ICS Olympic Arms CAR-97. I have heard a lot of good things about it and love the full metal but I am looking to see if anyone has had any bad experiences with them. Also, what do you think would be the best battery setup for the collapsible stock model? the AN/PEQ2 type laser box or what? Also, anybody know a nice RIS for good price for the gun? Thanks for any help here.
the split gearbox feature is cool if your going to have multiple springs to swap in and out for different roles, and the metal body looks great. the only bad experience i had with them is the body pins like to fall out.
Lots of great/new features....
Ray's got the MOVES!
yeah. imo they are prolly good guns if you keep them below 350 fps. the modular gearbox, while cool cause you can do internal work quick and easily, probably isn't as stable and durable as a one piece gearbox. Essentially, what they did was take a v2 gearbox and cut it in half. No matter how well you cut it, there probably is going to be some inherent lost of structural integrety of the gearbox. It would thus be wise to keep the gun below 350 fps. But other than that the guns are prolly good. Having a metal body (even though they aren't as refined as hurricane or systema) definitely ups the durability of the gun.
What's a signature?
Well, I am not really a beginner to airsoft. But this would be my first AEG. I dont actually play too much, just a collector more than anything else. I have about 15 GBB's but now I am looking into getting some AEG's. The biggest thing I am looking for is realism, which is part of why I like the split box design and also the ICS seems to be the cheapest way to go about getting the most realistic gun.
