Ultimate m4 metal body?

Aug 30, 2004 7:42am
Anyone here ever tried buying a real AR15 reciver and dremeling it out to slide in a gear box? That would be the ultimate M4 body out there. Yes it would cost a lot but for people like Ray that want as close to realy as it gets it would be viable. Now I know he lower reciever needs dremel work, just look at one and ou can tell. But how much would it take to refit an upper? You don't need an FFL to but an upper through the mail.

Just until a month or two ago, you could get all the parts except the lower receiver AR-15(m4 or m16 version) for about 300-500 dollars on ebay, just for what your talking about it would only cost about 200 or 300 dollars, but ebay became anti-gun and banned all sales of gun parts on it. At least i got my Sten MK III parts before the ebay ban came :D . Theres another good site to get AR-15 parts for cheap though, check out http://www.gunbroker.com

too much work...not everyone has the right tools...

Naw, I found a palce to get just the uppers for $80-120. And thats really all you'd needto stop your tabs from breaking. Now a lower reciever in CA would be a pain. You might be ab;e to find a demilled one but you won't know what condition it's it till you inspect it. If it has had a great line cut through it there's no reason to get it.

too much work..you'd need a bunch of tools, not just a dremel, prehaps some metal working tools, then again if you have a shop setup for fabrications....no problem, but then again for me too much work, besides...systema is the best metal body you can get....or the DTP stuff, but that comes with a big price tag, well bigger than a systema that is =)

Oops, forgot to mention when i was talking about upper receiver prices that was also the price for the bolt and carrier(which is about a quarter of that price), and depending on the brand you get too affects the prices(Colt is real expensive), and about the lower receiver, you can get 80% receivers which are partially completed receivers where you just need to drill a few things in it and its a working receiver, the 80% ones are legal to buy, but illegal to complete, but i think if you modified it to work with airsoft it would be impaired for working as a real receiver. By the way, these things cost like 100$ or so.

actually not really, they use systema/G&G metal bodies, i believe mostly systema ones. as for the real steal parts, same with about 2-3 other M4/rifles here at sacair, Ray's rifle has a crap load of real steal parts, like the swan sleeve, ARMS#38, CompM2 aimpoint with ARMS whatever QD mount, the surefire light on their is a MU system or weapon mounted light system that LE and military uses, the list could go on....anyways to be honest its not worth it unless your a hardcore hobbiest, like ray. but there is just some things you have to draw the line for =)

You want all that for about a grand?? Good luck! Your best bet would be to get lucky and find one on ebay which will be a VERY rare find.

Thanks for the info and I guess I could drop a few extra's to get the cost down. The main thing for me is reliability and something that will last. Maybe thats not possible in the Airsoft world, I don't know. It should be right? I just checked out that website -----------------------------> http://www.airsoftgi.com/default.php cool M4! but it seems close to the others (CA & TM & ICS) in price. whould this be a better base gun to start off with or should I just have a costom built? Maybe you guys and gals with high end M4's could give me some ideas what to start with. I checked out AEX's site and they have some bada$$ M4's, are they a good choice for a costom build?
