I need to get some ANSI Z87.1 certified prescription glasses that donât look like BCGâs. I was looking at Oakley and Wiley X. The optician couldnât tell me if the Oakleyâs I liked were Z87.1 rated. Does Oakley print Z87.1 on the frame someplace?

I know all Oakley SUNGLASSES are ballistic proof Z-blahblah. Can you find the ones you liked on Oakley's website?

I was looking at their Flak Jacket frame. It says "Optical clarity exceeds all ANSI Z87.1 standards". What about impact resistance? It dosent say they don't meet the impact spec.

I work in the industry. If they are prescription you can get any frame you want. It's the lens you have to check out to make sure they are rated correctly. The lab will grind the lens to your prescription and then insert them into the frame. Typically a polycarbonate lens will be rated correctly. Your optician or optometrist should be able to recommend a good lens for you. Let me know if he doesn't know, and I'll see what I can find.

It looks like the Sonoma Eyeworks, the place I was looking at Oakleys is also the local dealer for Rudy Projects. It looks like I just need to go back and find a sales person that know about saftey eyeware.
