Little advice if I may Matt,

in my old 22r 82 yota i found one issue with it in four wheeling. ON steep hils VERY steep hill the carb would get drowned from gas it would sometimes stall which on a near 45degree hill at a 200 foot climb at aobur 150 feet up is quite BAD. I leanrded VERY quick in that truck how to get up hills and go down in reverse with no power anything. and how to do it without rolling.

lol nice ya i was out one time and this guy comes out with a 99 wrangler with full auto air lockers 8 inch lift and he has a Corvette engine in it. Well long sotry short the stupid thing had so much torque and the suspension was so soft that it flipped head over heels on a steepish climb (that my yota made no problem) He was ok but learned a lesson.

If you give to a charity please think of giving to one of these two charities. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation or Navy SEAL Warrior Fund.

For off road fun Id go with 84 w/22R. Vent the float bowl and itll run up hills fine. While bulletproof, the 22R has no power especially with 33+ tires. Most performance parts like headers and cams throw off the EFI computer (leading to check engine light which leads to smog fail), so stick with a vented bowl carb. Also a 3psi fuel reg helps prevent high angle flooding. Weber makes a Progressive carb that is CARB stamped for CA on the 84. LC engineering makes CA legal headers, and TRD makes a CA legal mild cam. If you wanna get some power back regear the rear w/ 4.30s
In close range combat, an unsuspecting melon will get the back of its melon blown off.
