i say tm mp5a4 or the a5. leave it stock, you are only shooting in backyard. umm...Fortress would be that store in Sac.

he's right. no need to rush for a first aeg, plus it's in your friend's backyard only. you know that the gun shoots already, use the extra money for other stuff, bb's, EYE PROTECTION, or gear if you're planning to go out for a game

don't get ca or ics mp5's unless you know how to fix things. that actually goes for ca m4's as well. ca m4's and mp5's are decent guns once you get em top shape, but there are things you need to usually deal with out of box (new hop up etc).
What's a signature?

doesnt matter, TM guns are nice and good reliable guns, in their stock forms...as for upgrades..no need i have a stock m4 and i play with it, its pretty fun compared to playing with my upgraded one lol its soo much lighter...HAHA anyways yea grab a m4, you should be happy with the range in a backyard game ;) you can reach out and tag someone with no problems...

tm mp5's are extremely reliable, i rarely hear of a stock tm gun breaking. as for starting with everything, i dunno, gun+battery+bbs+charger around $250+. they do have em in sets though like at cobraairsoft where you can buy the battery and the gun together, so you might want to look for those as they are usually cheaper than buying the two items seperate.

You should know that both the MP5 and M4 have the same internals. Really what you are deciding is your personal idea of what you think "looks cool."

A consideration to keep in mind is what gun fits you? If you're 6'4" an MP5 may feel kinda small. I'm 6'3" and mine feels kinda funny. Course IMO a G3A3 feels small, so...

My brother bought a used MP5 sd5 from fortress for 150$ a long time ago, maybe a year and a half ago, no maintenance, no cleaning, no upgrades, nothing, and it shoots perfect still, actually better than perfect.
