Silent as Possible AEG
Anybody ever dynamat their gun before? I have an AUG, which I hear is one of the few AEG's with enough room in there to install dynamat. I am considering also making foam ring pads for the inside of the piston, so that the cylinder head and piston head sort of make a thud when they meet, rather than a clack. I had been thinking about making an airbreak, but there were too many other things required to prevent from ruining gears, etc.
Leave the "internal quieting" alone and just dynomat the inside of the aug body..
You just got killed by a Daewoo Lanos...How You like me now?
I have seen a Aug with a Dynomated body with a phantom kit....SUPER QUIET...I think a guy that used to be on here did a P90 also.
I shoot Table Gypsies on sight!
I haven't dynomatted before, but I read an article somewhere awhile back that said fish filter cut into strips and placed around the gearbox inside the body would do well to dampen the sounds.

Try PM either Steveofett (sp?) or Neouser
Seek the Narrow Gate, for the path is broad and the gate is wide that leads to destruction.
Install air brake for your gun (Piston cylinder head). Those things will make your gun less louder but will reduce a lot of FPS...
the lighter the spring you're using, the quieter it is...

I dynamatted my CA G36 and now the gearbox seems extremely quiet comparatively, only drawback is that the motor is so tight in grip that the matting would not allow the motor/ shell to fit, therefore, the motor whine is not reduced.

tight shimming makes then whinny, so does loose shims then htey kinda clank. You want to the gear when they are the only thing lef tin the box (the means remove the anit reversal latch, tappet plate, and upper half) when you spin the gears you want to get about 2-3 rotations of teh gears while keeping the bushing or bearing tight in the box as well. To help remove some piston slap a silent piston head will help. It will reduce the FPS a bit and IMHO i dont it redues the actual sound decibel it just reduces the crack of the piston and make more of a thud.
Ok, a much easier possible solution but saying up front, an ugly one. Why not put the sound deadening material around the outside of the gun? You know, give it a camoflage foam gillie suit. That would have to knock a bunch of db's off the gun's audio output. I haven't had a chance to try it myself, but I also have an AUG and would like to make it a stealthy DMR. Anyone actually try it? If the idea gets totaly shot down, where does one source Dynamat?

Dynomat is an audio insulation. You can get it at most audio suppliers. IE: Frys Electronics sells it.

ya there is, i have seen it done nicly quite a few times. Just dont get it hear the working and moving parts of the gun or well Andrew has a photo somewhere that needs to be posted for this thread.
Pssst. My little secret...
that way works great too. And the gear box i was mentioning is in the post above that one haha.
How would you know? You has never heard it.
Thanks for the tip! Definitely giving it a try. Add a functioning foam silencer to the barrel end and shhhh, you're dead.

lol @ dynamat ON the gearbox. Stuff is so stickey... Looking for other alternatives, but most everything i've seen is still asphalt based, just like dynamat.
??? i havnt? then why did i post in that thread form a year ago?
