make sure you buy a simple lens filter like a UV filter. They'll protect that oh so precious lens not to mention keep it scratch free ;)

Edit: +1 to what freq said. Cameramen take bb hits too, so there's a very remote possibility for one to hit the lens, but I plan on taking more pics myself as well.

Great advice Freq, most important part of the camera!

I bang killed Erin when he was being camera man. Hit up the guy named ERIN (game and site admin) on the boards. They crazy B^stard constantly just walks into the middle of a fire fight w/ bis camera. I'm sure he can give you more hints then have been layed out already.

Roguewarrior what kind of a camera are you using? If you have a zoom lense then I sugest you use it. I have protective filters infront of my lense glass. Yes your camera will be hit so protect your gear. Also it can be hard to work a camera with eye protection on however I recomend wearing them any ways.

Well I won't be able to make it to the Wheatland game, and I probably won't be able to come out for a little while. I've got marching band competitions practically every weekend for some time :/.

by a plexiglass plate from homedepot for like 5$ and make some sort of mount for the camera to hold the plexiglass infront of the lense, im planning to do this with a video camera

Or just don't get really close to the action, wear red, and don't hide in the bushes.

Hmmm, all valid points...I've got some time, so i'll think of something. I still have the UV filter, so I know if i did wind up taking a hit to the lens, that would save it.

I had not noticed your mom taking pictures of me. I must improve my situational awareness. Or perhaps my short term memory. Either way better safe then sorry
