Hey guys, my brother has an ak-47 and we are looking at gear to get him and i was just wondering if a vest or something says it has "rifle" pouches on it, will it most likely be able to hold the AK magazines?

If ya can, get down to AEX... they have a pretty good chest rig for 20.00 - perfect for AKs...

Do you have a vest in mind? Most "tactical vests" in our market are made for AR15/M4 magazines. Most are too short for the AK magazines. HSGI pouches fit 2X AK magazines in each pouch. Eagle makes a nice AK chest rig for around 65 bucks. Or a chicom ak rig for 15 if you can find them.

this is for my little bros birthday, but i didn't have anything in mind, just something that can hold five or six AK mags. (his pockets can do only so much)

I would say get a plain molle vest and a couple of AK mag pouches from AEX. Though that would still be as expensive or more than getting the suggested Eagle AK rig (if you can find any in stock ATM).
