Ideas on helping protect our hobby
We've all seen the problems the misuse of airsoft can cause. Whether through pure stupidity or criminal intent, these incidents may eventually lead tighter legislation to the point of an all out ban. Furthermore, the misuse does not only harm us, but also the people involved and their communities.
Actually the idea of make bright colored guns began in the mid 80's. So it wasn't 30 years ago more like 20 years. Also in the state of California there is an almost xenophobic tendency towards anything military, guns and firearms. Making airsoft more visible will only make it more prone to stricter laws and possible bans as opposed to being isolated incidents. The less it's known the better off we'll be while pushing to get rid of the cheap Chinese stuff from places like Walmart.

I think we can all agree that an airsoft gun can be dangerous in the hands of an uneducated person. The warning label serves to educate those who don't know.
a car can be dangerous in an uneducated person yet there are no warning labels on them. Hell, uneducated people still manage to get into them everyday yet pass the so called required test. The only solution is cull the herd and remove the idiots.

Agreed. I do my best to educate the parental unit when they are purchasing a faux weapon for their kid/s.

I'll agree about the car being dangerous, but it takes very little thought to imagine what a car can do to someone or something when used improperly.
and it takes very little imagination what a realistic looking toy gun can do in an unsuspecting minor's hand.

I've too have heard of some pretty scary stories of immature kids who play airsoft. One involved a kid with a Digicon Beretta which he thought was unloaded...
Actually you are wrong. In the instances such as the ones you've stated those parents do not care one iota. The immature kids who do so, do so behind their parents back. Those parents are blinded by how grossily immature and evil their children really are. Again will legislation or labels stop them?

Personal responsibility.

Kids lack the understanding of personal responsibility. Schools have stop teaching that. If the parents themselves are unwilling to accept their own personal responsibility who is to say the child will?

If the parents know that there is a danger as well as penalties associated with these toys, they may think twice before buying them.
I blame it all on that stupid purple dinosaur.
