I see another Cold War brewing. Instead of the USSR we'll have the People's Republic of China. Between their growing military capabilities and their ever increasing economic might it's almost inevitable. You'll have one country trying to one up the other as far as technology, economic, and military might. You won't see a "hot" war as our economies are too closely tied together. We may see wars fought by proxy again a la Vietnam and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, I'm a bit iffy on that.

The last war will not be fought with guns or bombs but with sticks, rocks, and fist.

It would be virtually impossible to take the Unitied States of America intact. They would have to use some sort of W.M.D. But wherever they did use a W.M.D. the area would probably be non-habitual for a while. But as in all wars there is a huge difference between taking and holding the land. We as Americans would unite in such a way that has never been seen.

Any country invading the U.S would have trouble fighting the Military Force behind this country.

How many of you are old enough to remember the old anime show Robotech? Originally called Macross. In it they have us in a global conflict centered in the Middle East. If memory serves me correctly it began sometime in 1991 with direct U.S. involvement. Slowly escalated into a full blown global conflict...resulting in World War III. The United States has again fractured but this time into east-west. USSR dissolved but reformed as the Eastern European Bloc. And China emerged as a super power in it's own rights dominating most of the Asian continent minus Japan and Taiwan. Until an alien vessel crash landed on a micronesian island.
