so I found out my unit allows plate carriers(I find this out after humping a full vest for 6 damn months in the hindu kush mountains...)

So you mean you can wear a plate carrier over a soft-armor carrier or just a plate carrier by itself? Diamondback tactical has a really nice plate-carrier and they also have soft inserts to fit behind the hard plates.
