Mock Suppressors

Jan 15, 2008 4:46am
I have a few questions about the CA Double Screw Mock Silencer for any silencer that will work for my CA G36C.

CA double screw silencer are a joke, a complete waste of money, they actually amplify the sound. i know, a silencer making a gun louder right, but it gives the gun more of a *clap* or *clack* sound. they are junk, and if you dont believe me, go out and buy one.

Well, if they're a joke, then what would you recommend?

Anything that has foam or can be foamed(and you can find the correct size foam rings for) will do just fine.

A joke? I disagree. A mock suppressor with no foam is not meant to 'silence' the gun. If a product is not advertised to do something, don't expect it to unless you know otherwise. Most airsoft suppressors have no foam or 'silencing' properties.

I understand that it does not silence the gun, but I heard it from an airsofter I was playing with. Anyways, any suggestions on a silencer?

Another way you can silence the gun, as DRew mentioned above, is through quieting the gearbox. Replacing the whiny CA motor with a EG1000 or something will get rip of high frequencing sounds. A silent piston head+ cyl head will help with the *slap* sound of piston hitting cyl head.

So your saying the double screw helped? Another thing I heard was upgrading a gun reduced its lifespan. Maybe it was another rumor.

Thats not a rumor. Upgrading guns in the way of stiffer springs does decrease the life span. Draws more current through your motor and switch assembly, more stress on the gearbox shell itself, gears, piston, spring guide.

i beg to differ, i have 3 different ones, the ones with foam silence the shot... you can hear the difference of the bb when it whizzes by you to.

Thanks for the information guys. Overall, I need to know whether to get a CA double screw, or some other one that silences my shots and what not (if possible).

So silencer or no silencer? And if silencer, which one? I have to go, and will check this tomorrow after school or whenever possible.

I bought the G&G silencer, I think it was a G&G, the one with the "stay back 100 meters..." lettering on it. It was foamed on the inside and after using it a few times I noticed some bb's getting stuck, or even breaking on the inside of the silencer. From what I understand they are all cosmetic.

Foamed silencers do reduce the pop, and that makes it harder for the bad guys to locate you. The guy you shot at is hopefully out of the equation. The others may hear the gearbox, but a pinpoint location takes longer with dull noises than sharp ones.

Thanks for the comments guys. I don't want the Laylax Mode-2, because it costs half the price of a GBB, extra mag, speed loader, and gas. Thanks for all the information about foaming, but I don't want to go through the trouble for a silent gun (I'm a lazy, lazy child). I really just want to buy a suppressor and get over with it.
