tars in cig smoke get into lungs, into fingers, oil in fingers gripping gun, oil on face pressing on cheekrest. All the oil is absorbed into plastic a lot, and metal a little (mostly into the paint on the metal). Deal with the oil in/on the gun, that'll get rid of the smell. Good luck.

ya.... same thing with my gun, got it a month ago now.. pretty much lost all it's "odor"

Personally, I leave a sheet of bounce in my gun bags. Keeps my guns smelling spring fresh.
