SOF Training

Jan 16, 2008 12:35am
I am looking for a group of guys who are interested in doing Special Operations Forces. I would like to start some training with a small group of guys. It is going to be mainly PT but eventually we'll throw in some tactics and what not. Looking to meet on weekends for the most part but could always work something out. Just want to give a heads up that this isn't going to be a good time. It is going to be designed to get us both mentally and physically tough to withstand the hardships and obstacles that SOF Training will throw at you. Understand that this is going to be PT based off of the actual training not something I just come up with in my head. Once again, only looking for those that are seriously considering SOF.

further clarification, SEAL (Sea Air and Land) ODA (Operational Detachment Alpha's) also known as Green Berets, CCT (Combat Control Technician) TACP (Tactical Air Control Personnell) MARSOC (Marine Special Operations) and then there is always DEVGRU (Naval Special Warfare Development Group) and ODD (Operational Detachment Delta) "Delta Force."

It sounds like this may have possibilities.
If you give to a charity please think of giving to one of these two charities. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation or Navy SEAL Warrior Fund.

got out of active in '07. 2 of my friends went to selection and passed. (one of them had done it before a few years ago and said they have changed selection around a little and is now harder then before)

alright. let me give a description of what im planning on. for staters itd be a pyramid of pushups, for time, not amount, bear crawls most likely 1/4 tp 1/2 mile, buddy drags for 200 yds, buddy carries 1/2 mile, flutter kicks and hello dollies (various sets) sassy 7s (if we have pull up bars) low crawl 1/4 to 1/2 mile, 5 sets of 20 pushups, 4 mile run, and then to finish it off, 75 pushups and then 3 minutes of front lean rest.

alright. well thats what i did 5 out of 7 days. it is pretty much indoc. obviously there will be many that need to work up to that. don't know who wants to be SEALs but they don't take guys from the recruiters anymore. they now do their own recruiting.

i might be dreamin big here. just thought id give it a shot. the guys i trained with were borderline insane. im talking 32 pullups and running 50 mile races. those were our best guys, the other 7 of us could definately hold our own, but just weren't that insane.

no. i went to military school. i made it through my SEAL platoon. we had a 80 percent washout rate. (7 out of 35 made it through.) i was trained by both active and retired SEALs. took the BUD/S PRT countless times, did everything imaginable physically wise. some of the older guys would throw in the most ridiculous things. things that didn't have anything to do with anything, but just F***** with you mentally. i.e. climbing trees upside down. this is us.

Jan 24, 2008 5:35am
no. it was just a NROTC unit. we'd most likely do the training somewhere on the river. where there is open field and plenty of room to train. uniform would be BDU pants, whit shirt, preferably with a name, and if at all possible, boots.
