I've heard about an even amount of "goods" and "bads" with .30-06 vs .308, now I want your guy's opinion.

i have a 30-06 ruger m77

Personally I feel both are a bit big for California deer. If you are going to hunt other big game like elk i would go with the 308 faster and flatter flight path. i have books on those kind of stats so if there are any specs you would like to know ask and i'll get them for you. I use a 270 and have had great success with it.

I'll take it to the range more than I'll be hunting, way more.

boss has been hunting over 15 years and he says 270 is more than ample for deer.

absolutely true. it's all about shot placement.

I have a remington 770 in .308

The best hunter I have even met uses a .308, it just works for him. I know another dude that used a .243. It all depends what you personally prefer. I want to buy the 270 wsm. The charts look sweet

Yes. When the admin that doesn't like these threads logs on, it will probably get deleted. Remember, we cant discuss 'RS' on a forum made for the discussion and organization of a 'sport' based on realistic looking weapons. It gives us a bad image.
