Andrew, if all else fails on your computer, honestly get a mac. The leopard OS is good for your normal surfing, doing work or just relaxing. YOu can run bootcamp if you need to, and the process of partioning your drive only needs you to determin how much space you want on your system. After that, its all automated. Alteast, up to the windows part. But AppleCare can talk you though the steps after that (or I'll do it if you get one, next time I'm up). I owned a PC this time last year, got my first mac at the end of feburary, and within a hour, had bootcamp running and was playing CS:S

I got a dell for christmas... Inspiron 1520, Vista Home Premium, 1.5Ghz Core 2 Duo, GeForce 8400GS Mobile graphics card, bluetooth, wifi, HD screen, DVD/CD-RW, integrated webcam (like i'll ever use that), and 1Gig RAM. All that was $800 and i promptly bought Kingston 4Gig RAM from frys for $80 and it runs great. Battery life is my only complaint but if i get to class early i can get a seat near a plug lol. No games on here right now cept for AOE3 but i'd reccomend it just don't try to call Dell for customer support... they don't speak english or have any practical tech knowlege beyond what the computer program tells them.

I haven't had any problems with my laptop but my mom ordered a desktop a few years ago from them and she had all sorts of problems with their customer service (tho shes computer illiterate so that might be part of the problem).
