Military Based PT

Feb 13, 2008 7:42am
Alright. I received enough interest from my last topic post that I am going to try this out. I am going to do some training on the sunday the 24th, starting at about 7:30. This won't consist of playing airsoft because I am not allowed to organize games and what not but I do believe Erin is having a training/game so we can always play afterwards. Its going to consist of running and PT. No swimming. You've got to be at least 16 and serious about SOF. Seeing how it goes, I'll finish up with maybe a half hour of E&E training or possibly sniping. PM me if interested and for details. In the SOF community it is all about training as a Team. Thats what gets you through.

I'm not a big fan of the FM series PT. Some of it belongs back in the WWII era.

Forgot to mention. This will be held at Star Bend (NAM). It is an ideal place to conduct PT with its long trails and soft dirt. good for low crawls

so why not enlist in the Navy and do it for real? Theres going through the training and theres not... you gotta be careful saying stuff like that on here.

Personally I think its best to enlist with some experience. I wanted to right out of high school but am fortunate I didn't. I attended Norwich Univeristy (Military Academy which is essentially West Point, AF Academy, and Annapolis combined into one.) Went out for SEAL platoon. Made it through, got legit training and decided I didn't want to be an officer. Once I get in better shape (probably meaning running 5 ultramarathons) I'll enlist. Going through that kind of training gives the the body and mind a really good idea of what to expect when doing it for real. As much as it prepares you for the real deal, theres a lot of luck involved too. Some guys washed out because of hypothermia, one guy had a 450 lb tire land of him and crack his ribs. Personally if I had to make the choice between enlisting right away and doing some prior training, i'd do the prior training. As much as I'd love to serve my country ASAP, I believe that my may serve her much better due to my training. I guess it all depends on your point of view.

Norwich, excellent school. He has my respect and I have his back, 'nuff said.

in other words it's like masturbation. You do it for the sake of doing it. In hopes that you get to use it for reals. But after your first time you realize that it's nothing like all the fantasies, magazines and vid's you had hidden in your room.

Exactly. Its exactly like that. My interpretation would be that SEALs just keep on training (beating it) and occasionally get the real deal (you know) so what they do is join Blackwater and get (you know) all day long and never have to train (beat it) again. Nice Freq. I like the way you think.
