yes it will work. It's a replica of a PRI front flip up sight for the AR series weapons.

if you're using a sportline, it might not. If I remember correctly, the front site on the sportline series is held by one allen screw at the bottom part of the rear sight (which screws up into the inner barrel)...The front sight from the sportline series does not take pins. I'm not sure whether or not the outer barrel of the sportline has the slots for the front sight pins....you might want to check that out...

you are correct about the sports line, you'll need to redo the whole front end
