Physics *caution: boring*

If you're the type of airsofter that just likes to play for fun and could care less about the physics behind airsoft... don't waste your time checking this out, it will bore you ;)

too much reading, i'm off to sleep

That boring article has some flaws to its argument though. It's assuming that increases and decreases in fps will have a standard increase and decrease in performance. It takes no regard for the tuners experience either. Also, it takes no regard for the parts in the gun. It's all theoretical since its all calculations based.

Ice I agree with the computer kitty it is a lot of reading. However it was interesting. Thanks for posting it but you better run at the next game. Because I am going to get you!!!!
If you give to a charity please think of giving to one of these two charities. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation or Navy SEAL Warrior Fund.

nice.
Seek the Narrow Gate, for the path is broad and the gate is wide that leads to destruction.

I did read through the article (most of it) and he even says that he did tests, but a lot of it was calculation based for the results.

Yes, the data may be specific to the accuracies or inaccuracies of the airsoft guns used to test, however there are clear patterns visible from the data, and although you may be able to make the most out of what you got, the data gives an idea of the changes in potential at different bb weights, velocties, etc. I'm not saying that the results will be the same, of course there will be variances due to different parts being used, but there are physical limits, and trends that can be pointed out.

Agreed on your last point. Theres drastic differences though in his guns. My 310 fps AK (310 w/ .2s) can hit targets at the least 200 ft out using .25 bbs (straight trajectory, not lobbing). It's projected would be around 105 ft according to his graph. Explain that though? Tuning can yield drastic differences in results.

Edit: taking to pm's so not to clog the threads.

Thanks for the smart ass remarks. So I guess your noble for defending it and i'm just as asshole trying to start a fight. You knock me down for assuming and yet your doing all the same. Don't take it personal, asshole.

[quote]Your PM rebuttal was fine, but your response to me publicly, which you have edited, said something to the lines of "taking to PM, not here to argue or pick fights with people who think KM or Guarder don't apply to the laws of physics".

I have one question was his FPS test done without hopup at all? That would probably be the only way to tell if FPS has the greatest effect on range. And if so how much of an increase does one need in order to see a viable gain?
