i was wounering why no-one uses mp5s anymore or atleast arent commen thay are good guns sleek digns small and usally good fps they are like mini aegs. are they to old for the airsoft community or just out of style. do gun such as the p90 or mp7 have anything to do with the sudden swich. the reason i ask this is because i havent seen a mp5 or anything to do with one for a while with the exception of selling mp5s.

I still love my MP5 RAS (w/ systema turbo mech box and motor) but I do think they have gone out of style; maybe thats why i like them so much -because no one has them! Back when i was getting into airsoft they were huge, then the M4/M16 (which i had for a like 6 months) and now it seems to be the AK47/74 and the SAWs (had a CA 249 but it felt like i was almost cheating using it) are going to be the most popular.

I'm slowly working my way through ownership of the major gun types (tight budget). First hand experience is the best teacher for me. I'm way more of a function over form guy. I'll take the better performing gun over one that looks better, every time. Although, the best looking can also be the best performing...

I think the Mp5 is a great gun.

Haven't read all the way through this thread but if you had an TM MP5, dissassembly was a biatch. If you ever had that rare plastic piece go out also where the fire selector switch is, that sucked too... SDs lose those retaining pins too easily... Are those some good examples why or should i go back to bed? LOL

I had an SD5 Sold it to Ryan D miller and I heavily regreted it. That thing was a beast decent range and a freakin amazing ROF. It was a TM body with a CA SD fornt end and a CA lower so the hopup lever wasa bitch to adjust. YOu needed like a knife to ge t to it. Assembly as mentioned above was a a bitch, i thin kthere were like 22 screws including the gear box ones and if you forget a certain you the wqhoe fron end falls off :lol: .

Yeah, disassembly is a good practical reason for picking one gun over another. M4's are pretty easy. AUG's are really, really, easy. But ya don't see a lot of AUG's on the field...

same with p90's :lol:

I roll with a MP5J with a Ras and M203, it rocks. And my son rolls with an MP5 as well and so do a few others I know ....we are out there just not common any more for some reason.
